Baseball: Sagehens Take Down Panthers At Home, 4-2

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team defeated non-conference opponent Middlebury 4-2 on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field.

Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improve to 15-8 overall.

The Sagehens were led by Adam Hinthorne who went 2-3 with two RBI's in the win.

Luka Green got the start for the Sagehens and pitched well early on with only four hits and six strikeouts but was relieved for Jake Patterson-Kohout who came on in the sixth inning with bases loaded and no outs. Patterson-Kohout was able to get out of the inning for the Sagehens and keep the game tied at 0-0.

Pomona-Pitzer's offense came alive in the bottom of the eighth as they plated four runs for the first scoring of the day by either team. Jeremiah Quezada doubled down the line to bring in Nolan McCafferty to break the tie and give the Sagehens a 1-0 lead.

Seth Stone followed up with an RBI double that brought in Quezada and Adam Hinthorne capped off the inning with a single to center field to bring in Cade Hulse and Jack Hanley.

The Panthers battled back in the ninth as they started off the inning getting a two-run homer to cut the lead in half at 4-2 with nobody out in the inning.

The Sagehens regrouped and killed the Middlebury rally in the ninth to hang on for the non-conference win.
