LA VERNE, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team fell to Chapman 6-0 in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Tournament on Saturday morning at Ben Hines Field.
The Sagehens' bats were kept quiet by the Panthers' pitching staff in today's game with Pomona-Pitzer only connecting for three hits in the game.
Chapman jumped on top early in the game as an RBI single in the first put the Panthers up 1-0. Chapman had their big inning on offense in the fourth as they plated four runs coming off of four hits and one error by the Sagehen defense extended Chapman's lead to 5-0.
The Panthers added one more in the bottom of the fifth off of an RBI single to take their largest lead of the day at 6-0.
Pomona-Pitzer did not have an answer for Tyler Peck from Chapman as he went all nine innings for the Panthers and only surrendered three hits, two walks and struck out 14 batters in his outing.
With the loss, the Sagehens have been eliminated from the SCIAC Postseason Tournament and end the year with a 22-19 overall record and finish in fourth place in the SCIAC this season.
