Men's Golf: Owen Rosebeck Sits In Second In Day 1 of SCIAC Championship

PASADENA, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Golf Team finished the first round of the SCIAC Championship in sixth place, shooting 17-over as a team at the Brookside Golf Club. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps finished with the lead, shooting two-under as a team, while Occidental College sits in second at +2. Redlands shot +12 for third while La Verne and Chapman University are tied in fourth at +13.

Owen Rosebeck played an incredible round, taking second place in the leaderboard after shooting -2. The junior had a hot start in the front nine, bogeying only the first hole but shooting a birdie in the eighth and ninth. He went on to birdie in the 12th, 14th, and 17th, to secure his runner-up spot in the leaderboard.

Jack Carrigan finished tied for eighth after shooting +1. The junior hit a birdie in the seventh hole to salvage the three bogeys in the front nine. He followed with an excellent showing in the back nine, hitting an eagle in the 16th hole.

Conor Rooney finished tied for 17th after shooting four-over. Despite a rough start in the front nine, he finished his round strong with birdies in the 16th and 18th hole.

David Song ended the day tied for 41st at four-over while Jeremy Burton took 44th at 14-over. Geoffrey Holland ended in 46th at +17.

Up Next: The Sagehens will return to Brookside tomorrow morning for the second round the SCIAC.
