To and Kauahi Earn SCIAC Athlete of the Week

LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA. – Samuel To and Maddie Kauahi of the Pomona-Pitzer Swim and Dive Program were named Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Athlete of the Week. Their stand out performances at the Chris Knorr Invitational hosted by Cal Lutheran University earned them this weekly honor.

Samuel To took first place in the 100 Yard Butterfly and 200 Individual Medley at the meet. He finished the 100 Butterfly at 51.69 seconds and his 200 IM clocked in at 1:58.61. He also participated in the 400 Medley Relay, helping his team to victory after swimming a 51.70 split.

In addition to his third-place finish in the 100 Backstroke at 53.52, To contributed 96 points to help the Sagehens take first place at the meet with a grand total of 767.5, beating Division II program Fresno Pacific University (532.0 points) and SCIAC opponents Cal Lutheran (361.5) and Chapman (212.5) among others.

Maddie Kauahi had a productive showing at the Chris Knorr Invitational, winning the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 52.82 seconds and taking second in the 50 freestyle at 24.38. She contributed 37 points to the Sagehens, helping them to a second-place finish with a grand total of 594.0 points, finishing behind Division II Fresno Pacific University and ahead of SCIAC rivals Chapman (294.0) and Cal Lutheran (293.0).
