Meyer Earns ITA All-America Honors

Claremont, Calif. - Senior Tommy Meyer (Bernville, Pa.) was named a Division III All-American by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), it was announced this week.

Meyer earned All-America distinction for the third year in a row, after capturing the honor first as a sophomore in 2010, and then again last year, when he reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Singles Championship.

Meyer, who ended the year ranked No. 16 nationally in Division III by the ITA, compiled a 15-10 record while playing at No. 1 singles.  Of his 15 wins, 11 came against players who were nationally ranked by the ITA as well. In addition, he also reached the quarterfinals of the USTA/ITA West Region championships in the fall.

In addition to his success over the course of the regular season, Meyer also stepped up big in the playoffs, helping the Sagehens reach the championship of the SCIAC Tournament, where he won in singles and doubles against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. In fact, he and doubles partner Uday Singh (Beverly Hills, Calif.) won their three doubles matches in the SCIAC Tournament by a combined score of 24-2 (two 8-0 shutouts and an 8-2 win in the final).
