INDIAN WELLS, CA. – The No. 3 seeded Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team fell in the Semifinals of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships to the No. 2 seeded Redlands Bulldogs 5-3 on Saturday afternoon at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
The Semifinals match was originally scheduled to be played at the Pauley tennis Complex on the campus of Pomona College but due to rain in the morning, the matches were rescheduled to be played later on that day in Indian Wells.
Redlands took a 2-1 lead after doubles as they took the third doubles match with Parker Wilson and Tom Suchodolski earning the win after Avery Bicks and Marko Mandic tied the match at 7-7 but the Bulldogs went on to win the match 9-7.
After falling behind 2-1 after doubles, the Sagehens came out and got a quick win at the No. 1 singles match as Yasgoor quickly evened up the score at 2-2 after his 6-0, 6-2 win over Chase Lipscomb.
The Bulldogs took the next two singles matches as Wilson defeated Maassen at the No. 2 line 6-2, 6-2 and Dulle earned a win at No. 3 singles over Antony Bello, 6-2, 6-2.
The Sagehens cut it to 4-3 after Josh Gearou defeated Bryant Johnson at the No. 6 singles line by the score of 6-1, 6-2 but Redlands clinched at the No. 4 singles match as Ly came back and defeated Josh Kim, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1.
The Sagehens end the year in third place in the SCIAC with an 18-10 overall record and a 6-3 record in conference play.
