REDLANDS, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis team got the season back on the right track with a crucial road victory over University of Redlands on Friday afternoon, winning 6-3. Taking one win in doubles, the Sagehens got the job done in the singles matches to prevail.
Season Impact: The win improves the Sagehens' record to 12-6 overall and 4-0 in the SCIAC.
Sam Gearou and Jacob Schoenherr won their no. 3 doubles match by default as Redlands was short on players. In no. 1 doubles, Avery Bicks and Marko Mandic fell to Chase Lipscomb and Brysl Libao 8-3. Jed Kronenberg and Jack Bernstein took a close 8-5 loss in no.2 doubles.
Kronenberg improved his singles record to 14-2 after notching a 6-2 win in the first set and taking a 4-1 lead in the second before his opponent called a forfeit. Octave Bellet was unfortunate in no. 2, falling 6-3 and 6-4. Josh Gearou tied the game with a 6-2 and 6-1 victory in no. 3 singles and Marko Mandic cruised to a 6-1 and 6-3 win in singles. Jacob Schoenherr took a pair of 6-3 victories in no. 5. The Bulldogs had to a surrender no. 6 singles match by default due to lack of available players as the Hens clinched the victory.
Up Next: The Sagehens will take a break and will return to the court on April 4 when they host Gustavus Adolphus on Wednesday, April 4 at 4 p.m.
