Men's Tennis: Sagehens Tested In Close 5-4 Loss To Judges

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis Team fell to No. 21 Brandeis University on Tuesday night, taking a close 5-4 loss. Despite taking the lead after an intense doubles matchup, the Sagehens fell in singles as the Brandeis Judges pulled several close victories.

In the doubles portion, Octave Bellet de Giacomoni and Joshua Gearou took a close 8-7 (6) victory in no. 1 doubles, finishing their match in tiebreakers. Avery Bicks and Charlie Stark also won in a close battle, winning 8-7 over Tyler Ng and Nikhil Das in no. 3 doubles. Unfortunately, Jed Kronenberg and Jansen Comadena fell in no.2 doubles 8-5 to Adam Tseng and Jeff Chen.

In the singles, Tseng took a 6-3 and 6-1 win over Sam Gearou in no. 4 singles to tie the match. Chen followed with a 7-5 and 6-1 win in no. 5 singles over Comedena. Joshua Gearou dropped his no. 2 singles match 6-2 and 7-6 (3) to Anupreeth Coramutla, and Kronenberg fell in no. 1 singles 6-4 and 6-3 to David Aizemberg. Quinn Hirsohn battled to three sets with Ng and prevailed in no. 6 singles 4-6, 6-1, and 10-2. Bellet later won his no. 3 singles match against Das 7-5 and 6-3.

Up Next: The Sagehens will travel tomorrow to Cleveland, Ohio for the ITA Indoors Championship. They will face Gustavus Adolphus in the first round on Friday, February 22.
