Men's Tennis: Middlebury Prevails Against Sagehens In Thursday Evening Dual

CLAREMONT, CA. – The No. 13 Pomona-Pitzer Men's Tennis Team dropped their Thursday evening matchup against No. 2 Middlebury College 8-1.

In no. 1 doubles, Joshua Gearou and Octave Bellet De Giacomoni nearly came back to defeat Lubomir Cuba and Nate Eazor, but fell by a close margin 8-7. Avery Bicks and Charlie Stark dropped their No. 2 doubles match to Noah Farrell and Peter Martin 8-5. In no. 3 doubles, Jed Kronenberg and Nils Skattum lost to Aleksandr Samets and Andre Xiao  8-1 as the Panthers led 3-0 after doubles.

Josh Gearou grinded out a pair of 6-3 victories in no. 2 singles against Stanley Morris to give the Sagehens their first point. However, Kronenberg fell to Noah Farrell in no. 1 singles 7-5 and 6-1 while Adam Guo defeated Samuel Gearou in no. 4 singles 6-2 and 6-3. Quinn Hirsohn battled to a close 7-5 loss in no. 5 singles against Nate Eazor, but fell again in the second set 6-1. Avery Bicks took a pair of 6-2 losses against Alex Vanezis in no. 6 singles. Bellet and Xiao dueled to a three-set thriller, but Xiao prevailed in the final tiebreaker to complete the match.

Up Next: The Sagehens will next face SCIAC opponent Chapman University at home next Saturday, April 6 at 10:00 a.m.
