SAN FRANCISCO, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Cross Country Team sent Andy Reischling and Owen Woo to the Mike Fanelli Track Classic hosted by San Francisco State University on Thursday night, and the two posted the top-two times in the country for the 10,000 meter run. Competing against Division I and professional runners from across the country, the Track Classic proved to be a valuable experience for Reischling and Woo to gauge their performance among the elite.
"Andy's performance wasn't exactly what we had hoped for, but he still was able to salvage the day and put up a top time in division III and lock up a NCAA qualifier," said Head Coach Jordan Carpenter. "Owen had a huge breakthrough performance. He has consistently shown this fitness and ability in workouts so it was awesome to see him put it together in this race and have a great day. Two NCAA qualifiers in one night. It was a great day to be a Sagehen!"
Reischling posted a 29:52.01, posting the best Division III time in the country this season and missing his own school record by .25 seconds. He locked up a qualifying spot for the NCAA. He finished 22nd overall at the meet as Mario Pacay from Guatemala won with a time of 28:29.50.
Owen Woo broke out with the second-best Division III time in the country, finishing at 30:11.65. He finished 31st overall at the meet.
