Softball: Sagehens Host Athenas For Saturday Giveaway Doubleheader

CLAREMONT, CA. – the Pomona-Pitzer Softball team takes on SCIAC Rival CMS in a very important Sixth Street Rivalry on Saturday afternoon at 12 and 2:00 p.m. at Wig Beach Field.

Giveaway Item: Courtesy of Sagehen Athletics, students in attendance with a valid Pomona or Pitzer Student ID will receive a free custom PP Pop Socket.

The Sagehens are off to one of the best starts in program history and stand at 12-5 overall and 5-2 in conference play, which lands them in third place currently in the SCIAC this season. Their foe CMS is currently in second place in the SCIAC at 18-4 overall and 7-3 in conference play.

The Sagehens are led by Olivia Campion on offense who has a .477 average with 31 hits this season. Liz Rodarte is also having a year to remember hitting .433 with seven home runs so far this season and 23 RBI's. Not only has Rodarte impressed with her bat but the junior also has a 7-2 record in the circle with two no-hitters this season and 79 strikeouts.

CMS is led by Chloe Amarilla who is hitting .486 this season with 36 hits and nine doubles. Anna Gurr leads the Athenas in the circle as she has a 9-4 record with 51 strikeouts but Amarilla is having a good year pitching as well with a perfect 7-0 record and a 2.42 ERA.

First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
