  • Rodarte, Otsuka, Deatherage Named To NFCA All-Region Team

    The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced 364 players to the 2019 NCAA Division III All-Region softball teams today, May 15. The Pomona-Pitzer Softball Team saw three athletes named onto the All-Region West team after a season in which the team went 31-12-1 overall and 21-7 in the SCIAC, finishing runner-up in the SCIAC Tournament.

    CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Softball Team concluded their season at the SCIAC Championship, falling to Whittier College in the final round 4-3 on Sunday afternoon. The Sagehens wrapped up a solid season where they finished in second place in the SCIAC with a 31-12-1 record overall and 21-7 in conference play.

    CLAREMONT, CA. – The second day of the SCIAC Tournament provided plenty of dramatic moments, but in the end the Pomona-Pitzer Softball Team prevailed 6-5 over Whittier College after 10 innings. Katy Hurley batted 2-for-5 with a team-high three RBIs while Alondra Reynoso threw 4.2 innings of shutout relief, striking out two for the win.

Liz Rodarte pitched a complete game, surrendering only two runs for her 17th win of the season and batting 2-for-3 with an RBI.

    he Pomona-Pitzer Softball Team took a dominating road sweep over Chapman University on Saturday, winning the first game 10-9 and taking the second game in six innings 15-6. Liz Rodarte swung a scoring bat at the plate, hitting 7-for-10 with four runs and two RBIs. Karina Falkstrom batted 5-for-7 total with four runs and two RBIs.

    The Pomona-Pitzer Softball Team continue to reel, sweeping the Occidental College Tigers on Saturday afternoon in a doubleheader. The Sagehens shutout the Tigers in their first game 11-0 and followed with a 12-6 win in the second game. Liz Rodarte earned her 13th win of the season and pitched 10.1 innings with 10 strikeouts without surrendering a single run.

    The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference named Megan Otsuka and Liz Rodarte SCIAC Athletes of the Week. Megan Otsuka earned Hitter of the Week honors after her huge 10-for-16 showing this past weekend while Liz Rodarte came away with three wins and 20 strikeouts to take Pitcher of the Week.

    The Pomona-Pitzer Softball team continues to reel after sweeping the Whittier College Poets on Saturday afternoon. The Sagehens managed to overcome a four-run deficit in game one to win 8-7 and followed with a clinical 5-1 victory in game two.
  • Softball: Big Production By Megan Otsuka Secure Cal Lutheran Sweep

    The Pomona-Pitzer Softball program swept through the Cal Lutheran Regals on Friday afternoon, winning both games via mercy rule. The Sagehens took the first game 8-0 in five innings and later dominated through a 14-5 victory in six innings in the second game. Liz Rodarte earned two wins that day, reaching 10 total wins this season.

    The Pomona-Pitzer Softball Team kicked off spring break with a series split against Denison University on Monday, winning the first game 9-5 before dropping the second contest 9-3. Julia Carreon earned her first career victory and Karina Falkstrom played hero in the first game with a huge two-run home run to seal the victory for the Sagehens.

    The Pomona-Pitzer Softball program split their Saturday series against Chapman University, making a comeback victory 6-5 in game one off back-to-back homeruns from Izzy Deatherage and Megan Otsuka, before falling 6-2 in game two. Deatherage had a solid game at the plate, hitting a combined 3-for-6 with two RBIs, and three runs.

    The Pomona-Pitzer Softball program extended their winning streak to six games on Friday evening after sweeping Alfred University in a doubleheader at home with a 2-0 and 6-0 victory. Both Sagehens’ pitchers Liz Rodarte and Alondra Reynoso were lights out in the circle, throwing complete game shutouts and allowing a combined one hit.

Liz Rodarte pitched phenomenally in the first game, throwing a complete game shutout, but Alondra Reynoso followed up with an impressive no-hitter in the second game, the first of her career.

    The Pomona-Pitzer Softball Team finished their Friday series against No. 4 Linfield with a win and a draw, putting up seven runs in both games. In a close series where either side could have emerged victorious, the Sagehens finished with the advantage with a dominant victory in game one and a comeback tie in the second.

    The Pomona-Pitzer Softball Team continue to remain undefeated, after winning their road trip doubleheader against Whittier College on Saturday, winning the first game 7-1 and the second 2-0. Liz Rodarte and Alondra Reynoso both earned their second wins of the seasons on the mound while four different Sagehens belted a solo home run.

     CLAREMONT, CA. – Pomona-Pitzer had four athletes earn Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Athlete of the Week honors with junior Izzy Deatherage (Softball), sophomore Lukas Ming Menkhoff (Men’s Swim & Dive), sophomore Jed Kronenberg (Men’s Tennis) and senior Kahea Kahaulelio (Women’s Water Polo) all earning the award as announced by the league office.

    The Pomona-Pitzer Softball Team will open the 2019 Season with a doubleheader against Puget Sound, in hopes of improving upon last season’s success. After posting the best record in program history, going 26-14, the Sagehens will look go further as they enter the new year with nine returning players, including five who were in the All-SCIAC Team.
  • Pomona College Announces Plans for New Athletics Center
