LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced 364 players to the 2019 NCAA Division III All-Region softball teams today, May 15. The Pomona-Pitzer Softball Team saw three athletes named onto the All-Region West team after a season in which the team went 31-12-1 overall and 21-7 in the SCIAC, finishing runner-up in the SCIAC Tournament.
Liz Rodarte was named to the All-Region Second Team for the second time in her career after throwing 166.2 total innings with a 17-3 record and 144 strikeouts. The senior recorded her 500th career strikeout and finished her career with 531 strikeouts, the most in program history. Rodarte also batted .384 with six home runs and 30 RBIs. She was walked a team-high 27 times and posted a .497 on-base percentage.
Megan Otsuka won All-Region Third Team and is coming off an outstanding debut season. The first year phenom batted .426 with a .482 on-base percentage. She finished the season with five home runs, 24 RBIs, and a team-high five triples. She also recorded six stolen bases.
Izzy Deatherage was also named to the All-Region Third Team after putting up big numbers on offense this past season. The junior led the team with eight home runs and led the conference with 49 RBIs, all while batting .352. The starting shortstop boasted a .634 slugging percentage and led the team with 13 doubles coupled with six stolen bases. She won All-Region First Team last season, marking the second straight year she was recognized by the NFCA.
