CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Basketball team fell to Linfield 84-76 on Tuesday night at Voelkel Gymnasium.
The Sagehens were led by senior Alaina Woo who tallied a career-high 37 points for Pomona-Pitzer in the loss. Sophomore Keilani Ikehara chipped in with 19 points and five assists and senior Kacie Hitomi added 12 points of her own.
The Wildcats were led by Paige Graham who had a team-high 17 points. Linfield also had five more players reach double digit points as Riley Graham added 10, Dani Krier had 13, Audrey McMillan had 12 and Molly Danielson came off the bench with 13.
Linfield came out in the first quarter and jumped out to an early 16-8 lead after a Gibson Quincey jump shot with 3:40 left in the quarter.
The Sagehens got hot at the end of the first and went on a 9-2 run to close out the quarter and only trailed the Wildcats 18-17 heading into the second.
The Wildcats missed eight of their 15 free throws in the first half and kept the door open for the Sagehens as they only led 41-37 at the half despite outrebounding Pomona-Pitzer 27-11 with 10 of those rebounds on the offensive end for Linfield.
Linfield came out of the half and extended its lead throughout the third quarter and took a 62-52 heading into the fourth quarter.
Pomona-Pitzer battled back in the fourth and cut the lead down to just three points at 64-61 after an Ikehara layup with 7:49 left in the fourth.
Linfield regrouped and went on a 14-6 run and stalled out the Pomona-Pitzer comeback attempt to hand the Sagehens their third loss of the season.
