THOUSAND OAKS, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Basketball team fell to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent Cal Lutheran 74-51 on Saturday afternoon at Gilbert Arena.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens drop to 1-17 overall and 1-9 in SCIAC play this season while the Regals improve to 12-7 and 8-2 in conference play.
The Regals were led by Jessica Salottolo who had a team-high 18 points in the win. Tatiana Dunlap tallied 13, Sofia Cruz had 11 and Haley Hodgson chipped in with 10.
Cal Lutheran displayed an impressive offensive performance as they shot over 50% from the field and 52.4% from beyond the arc.
The Sagehens jumped out to a slight 8-5 lead after back to back made jump shots by Romero with 5:41 left in the first quarter. The Regals responded with a 12-3 run to end the quarter as they held a 17-11 lead.
Cal Lutheran came out and extended its lead over the Sagehens to its largest lead of the first half at 11 points at 29-18 with 4:50 left but the Sagehens stopped the run and held the lead to 10 points at 33-23 heading into halftime.
The Regals stayed on top in the third quarter as they came out hot from three-point territory and made four of the five three's they attempted in the quarter to extend their lead to 51-36 heading into the fourth.
The Sagehens battled back and cut the lead down to just 11 points at 51-38 after a Woo layup but the Regals responded and held off the Sagehens to stay on top of the SCIAC standings.
