Women's Basketball: Pomona-Pitzer Falls To Caltech On The Road

PASADENA, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Basketball team fell on the road to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent Caltech 76-44 on Saturday night.

Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens drop to 1-21 overall and 1-13 in SCIAC play while Caltech improves to 3-20 overall and 1-3 in the conference this season.

The Sagehens were led by sophomore Keilani Ikehara who had a team-high 12 points. Senior Alaina Woo tallied eight points and eight rebounds and sophomore Naomi Baer came off the bench with eight points as well.

The Beavers were led by Grace Peng who had a game-high 21 points while Samantha D'Costa tallied a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Elizabeth Eiden also notched a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

The Sagehens came out in the first quarter and took an early 5-4 lead to start the game but the Beavers immediately sparked a 7-0 run to take an 11-5 lead with 2:06 left in the first. Caltech closed out the first quarter hot on offense and went into the second with a 17-9 advantage.

Pomona-Pitzer tried to claw back into the game and cut the lead down to 25-18 with 1:32 led in the second quarter but Caltech continued to score the ball effectively on offense and held a 29-18 lead at the half.

The Beavers controlled the second half as they outscored the Sagehens 47-26, which included a 34-point fourth quarter.

The Sagehens could not mount a comeback in the second half as they fell to Caltech on the road.
