Women's Basketball: Pace Earns West Coach Of The Year; Leong Tabbed West Rookie Of The Year

Pomona-Pitzer Head Coach Jill Pace earned D3hoops.com West Region Coach of the Year honors while first-year Carly Leong earned West Region Rookie of the Year as announced by D3hoops.com

Pace earned West Region Coach of the Year en route to one of the best seasons in program history for the Pomona-Pitzer Women's Basketball program. In her third season as head coach, Pace led the Sagehens to a 22-6 overall record, just the seventh time the Sagehens have earned 20+ wins in a single season, 14-2 in SCIAC play and the Sagehens first SCIAC Tournament Championship in program history. Pace also earned SCIAC Coach of the Year honors and ended the season in the NCAA Tournament where the Sagehens haven't been to since 2002.

Leong earned West Rookie of the year honors after a spectacular rookie season for the Sagehens. She led Pomona-Pitzer with 16.3 points per game and finished third in the conference for scoring. She also finished fourth in the SCIAC in three-point percentage with 37.7 and also averaged 3.4 rebounds per game.

"What an honor for Carly," said Pace. "She worked hard this season to help lead our team and came up clutch in key moments. It's an honor for me to receive this award amongst many great coaches in the west region. I am fortunate to have two phenomenal assistants in addition to a great group of players who were a joy to be with on a daily basis."
