CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer women's lacrosse team defeated Kalamazoo 14-3 on Wednesday night at the South Athletics Complex to keep their undefeated season alive.
The Sagehens were led by senior Aubrey Douglass who tallied a game-high three goals for her second hat-trick of the year.
The Sagehens jumped out to a big lead in the first half as they scored six-straight goals to start the game.
Kalamazoo broke the Sagehens' goal streak as Anika Sproull found the back of the net at the 14:30 mark to cut the score to 6-1.
Pomona-Pitzer ended the half with five unanswered goals and went into the break with an 11-1 lead. Douglass, junior Rebecca Long and sophomore Sallie Marx went into the half with two goals each and senior Katie Savino, freshman Amelia Miller, freshman Lilly Thomey, senior Sarah Markowitz and senior Ally McLaughlin each had one goal.
The Sagehens opened the half up scoring two more goals with Miller getting her second goal of the day and freshman Madeleine Halle scored her first goal of the game to extend the Sagehens' lead to 13-1.
The Hornets scored one more goal as Sproull tallied her second goal of the game to make the score 13-2.
Douglass capped off her hat-trick with a goal late in the second half and Kalamazoo ended the game with a goal in the final minute by Venthania Stavropoulos as the Sagehens notched their eighth-straight win of the season.
The Sagehens next host Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Chapman on Saturday, March 26th at 11:00 a.m. at the South Athletics Complex.
