CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Lacrosse team fell to non-conference opponent Stevens Institute of Technology 15-6 on Monday afternoon at the South Athletics Complex.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens drop to 3-5 overall and Stevens stays perfect on the year at 4-0.
The Ducks were led by Laura Roberts who had a game-high five goals in the win and Kyra Berdnasrski helped out with four of her own.
Stevens played a sound defensive first half as they limited the Sagehens to just two first half goals. The Ducks started out with an early advantage as they scored the first four goals of the afternoon until Long found the back of the net for her first goal of the day with 11:13 left in the first as the Sagehens trailed 4-1.
The Ducks ended the half with three of the last four goals but Long notched her second goal of the afternoon with 6:21 to go to cut the lead to 6-2. Stevens added one more late goal as Bardnarski got one past the goal keeper with 37 seconds remaining as the Ducks took a 7-2 lead heading into the half.
Much like the first half, Stevens came out and immediately attacked on offense as they opened up the half with five-straight goals to take a 12-2 lead.
The Sagehens' offense started clicking late in the game as Marx and Long scored back to back goals and Marx added her second goal of the game just moments later to cut the lead down to just 13-5.
Long capped off her four-goal day with just under a minute remaining as she cut into the zone and found the back of the net but it wasn't enough as the Sagehens fell to the Ducks at home.
Up Next: The Sagehens will next host non-conference opponent Whitman on Wednesday, March 15th at 11:00 a.m.
