CLAREMONT, CA — Rebecca Long scored her eleventh hat trick of the season, but the Pomona-Pitzer Lacrosse team dropped a game on the road against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 18-7.
Long started off hot, scoring all three of her goals in the first half of the match. The senior got the Sagehens on the board seven minutes into the game when she scored on a free position shot. She followed it up halfway through the period with another goal after the Sagehens forced a turnover off a CMS clear attempt.
Long scored her third goal with four and half minutes left in the half. Junior Sallie Marx got in on the scoring for the Sagehens a minute later, scoring on a free position shot.
In the second half, freshman Sonia Olson found the back of the net after a free position shot four minutes into the period. Olson would make it two goals scoring another free position goal with five and a half minutes left to play.
Freshman Eileen Mahler also added a goal off a free position shot for the Sagehens.
Emily Cohen and Evan Murphy each scored four goals for the Athenas.
Season Impact: The Sagehens drop to 5-9 overall and 1-6 in SCIAC play. The Athenas move to 11-1 overall and 7-0 in the conference.
