CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Lacrosse team ended their season on a high note as they defeated Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent Redlands 16-8 on Tuesday night at the South Athletics Complex.
The Sagehens were led by freshman Sonia Olson who had a career-high five goals. Freshman Sophie Hubbell also had a career night with three goals and a career-high five assists and senior Rebecca Long added four goals to the total.
Junior Mckenzie Scott picked up her fourth win of the season as she tallied nine saves in the win for the Sagehens.
The Bulldogs were led by Hannah Morford who had a team-high three goals.
Pomona-Pitzer dominated in the first half against the Bulldogs as they outscored them 9-2 in the half.
The Bulldogs got on the board in their next possession as Hanna Morford went coast to coast to cut the lead down to 3-1 but the Sagehens responded with back to back goals from Hubbell and Olson to take a 5-1 lead with 12:48.
After another goal from Morford, the Sagehens ended the half with four unanswered goals from Long, sophomore Lilly Thomey and two goals from freshman Meridian Lee to take a 9-2 lead heading into the half.
Redlands came out and netted a goal in the first 18 seconds of the second half but the Sagehens responded as Long, Hubbell and Olson scored three of the next four goals in the game to push their lead to 12-4.
The Bulldogs added another goal to cut the lead down to 12-5 but Olson scored three-straight goals for the Sagehens to give Pomona-Pitzer its largest lead of the night at 15-5 with 11:01 left in the game.
