CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Lacrosse team fell to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) rival CMS 17-3 on Wednesday night at Zinda Field.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens drop to 9-5 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
Turnovers plagued the Sagehens in the loss against the Athenas as they tallied 31 in the game with 17 in the first and 14 in the second half.
CMS jumped out to a large lead early on as they quickly took a 5-0 lead with 18-12 left in the first half. Herman broke the scoring streak with a goal to get the Sagehens on the board and cut the lead down to 5-1. Herman's goal ended up as the only score for the Sagehens in the first half as the Athenas ended the half with four goals to take a 9-1 lead heading into halftime.
Pomona-Pitzer opened the half with two of the first three goals from Woo and Thomey to cut the lead down to 10-3 but the Athenas shutout the Sagehens for the remainder of the game and scored seven unanswered goals to take game two of the Sixth Street Rivalry.
