Women's Lacrosse: Sagehens Score Five In SCIAC Finale Loss

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse final between Pomona-Pitzer and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps did not go in the Sagehens' favor as they fell to their cross-street rival 17-5. Kate Immergluck and Lilly Thomey co-led the Hens with two goals apiece while Annie Price performed valiantly in front of the net with 12 saves.

The Athenas got off to a strong start, putting up 11 straight goals in the first half within an 18-minute span. Immergluck managed to salvage a goal with 6:20 left in the half as the Hens trailed 11-1. CMS closed out the half with a 12-1 lead.

The Sagehens struck first in the second half as Immergluck received a pass from Sarah Woo and converted her chance. Evan Murphy responded with a goal off a free position shot for the Athenas to extend the lead 13-2. Thomey scored with 22:30 left in the game off a pass from Lily Hermann to cut the deficit 13-3. Later as the Hens trailed 16-3, Sonia Olson scored on a power play with 3:40 left. Thomey followed with a goal off an assist from Eileen Mahler with 1:27 left in the game. CMS went on to win the match 17-5.

The Hens finish the season with an 11-8 record overall with a third-place finish in the SCIAC regular season.
