NEWBERG, OR. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Lacrosse team defeated George Fox 14-8 on Monday evening at the Austin Sports Complex.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improve to 7-1 overall.
The Sagehens were led by sophomore Sarah Woo who tallied a game-high three goals in the win for her fifth hat-trick of the year. Sophomore Kate Immergluck, senior Lilly Thomey and first-year Zoe Puccia all had two goals each in the win. Junior Annie Price got the win in goal for the Sagehens as he tallied eight saves for her seventh win of the season.
The Bruins jumped out to a 1-0 lead with the first goal of the game but the Sagehens quickly responded with Immergluck's first goal of the game to even the score at 1-1. George Fox reclaimed the lead at 2-1 but the Sagehens came back with two goals from Thomey to take their first lead of the game at 3-2.
The Bruins came back with back-to-back goals to take a 4-3 lead but the Sagehens ended the half with two of the last three goals to tie the game at 5-5 heading into halftime.
Pomona-Pitzer opened up the half with three-straight goals from sophomore Lily Herrmann, Woo and first-year Eleanor Mackey to take an 8-5 lead. The Bruins came back with three-straight goals to tie the game at 8-8 and that would be the only goals of the second half for George Fox.
The Sagehens shutout the Bruins for the final 18 minutes of the second half while Pomona-Pitzer added the final six goal of the game. Immergluck netted the go-ahead goal on a free position shot while first-years Jessalyn Simon-Parker and Puccia added two more to take an 11-8 lead with 8:12 remaining.
Pomona-Pitzer added three more to end the game as Herrmann scored off of a free position shot and Sweeney and Puccia ended the game with goals inside the final three minutes to give the Sagehens the road win.
