CLAREMONT, Calif. – A double overtime golden goal in the first ever Pomona-Pitzer Women's Soccer night game at the South Athletics Complex in the Sixth Street Rivalry on free t-shirt night, what more could you ask for?
Senior Agueda Dudley-Berrios scored the golden goal in double overtime of her final regular season Sixth Street Rivalry to beat CMS 1-0.
With the win against CMS, the Sagehens now move into sole possession of first place with an 8-1-2 overall record and 6-0-1 in the SCIAC. The Athenas now drop to second place with an 8-5 overall record and 6-2 in conference play.
Although scoring was at a premium, there was plenty of excitement throughout the duration of the match.
Senior Corey Goelz registered her third-straight shutout of the season and came up with some huge saves on a few good scoring opportunities for the Athenas to keep the Sagehens level at 0-0.
The Pomona-Pitzer defense also kept their streak of no goals allowed at home alive with their eighth shutout in 11 games.
The Sagehens had their offensive woes in regulation with only two shots on goal but Pomona-Pitzer stayed focused on their game plan and Dudley-Berrios delivered with the game winner off of a pass from junior Abby Onderwyzer Gold in double overtime.
