Jan. 23rd - After a week of rain, the skies finally cleared on Saturday morning. Perfect timing for the competition against the Caltech Beavers. In a meet where the Sagehens won 10 of the 13 events contested and finished 1-2 in 7 events, it came as no surprise that the Sagehens won the meet handily 143-91.
Opening up the meet was the Medley Relay of Kristen Boysen (Sr.), Lizzie Aby (Jr.), Dannielle Shiomoto (Jr.) and Naomi Laporte (Jr.) which took first place in a time of 1:59.59. The ‘B' Relay team of Emma Little (So.), Isso Shimamoto (Jr.), Jackie Lynch (So.), and Jessica Barry (So.) took second in the event to help the Sagehens finish 1-2 in the event.
Dana Kingman (Jr.) continues her comeback after spending the last semester abroad, taking home top honors in the 1000 freestyle in a time of 11:44.58. In the 200 free, Hannah Miller (Fr.) dropped 3.4 seconds from her previous season best to win the event in 2:04.82. In the 50 free, Kristen Boysen out-touched Kristen Lindbergh (So.) 26.13 to 26.21 to go 1-2 in the event. The two matched up again in the 100 backstroke, with Boysen taking a huge lead from the start and never looking back, finishing in a season best 1:02.28 while Lindbergh finished second in 1:05.75.
Lizzie Aby used a strong breaststroke leg in the 200 IM to catch and beat teammate Charlotte Dohrn (So.) 2:16.44 to 2:18.16 and also used her breaststroke prowess in the 100 distance to win in 1:12.65. In the 100 free, Naomi Laporte outlasted Dohrn 55.62 to 57.53 while Isso Shimamoto won the 500 free in 5:43.55.
Finishing off the meet with the 10th victory of the day was the Freestyle Relay of Naomi Laporte, Hannah Miller, Charlotte Dohrn, and Kristen Lindbergh which swam a 1:46.16.
