CLAREMONT, Calif. – The No. 19 ranked Pomona-Pitzer women's swimming and diving team defeated Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Occidental 216-49 Saturday afternoon at Haldeman Pool.
The Sagehens swept the competition as they came in first place in every event during the dual meet.
Pomona-Pitzer started out the day as senior Dawn Barlow broke a Sagehen school record in the One Meter Dive with a score of 241.35. Senior Stefanie Merchant took first in the Three Meter Dive with a score of 169.95.
The Sagehens then started off the swimming events with a win in the 400 Yard Medley Relay as the team of freshman Angela Ling, freshman Erin Bigus, freshman Maddie Kauahi and freshman Sarah Jin clocked in at 4:01.02.
Sophomore Kelsey Thomas took first place in the 1,650 Yard Freestyle with a time of 18:14.40.
Freshman Cayla Nishizaki came in first place in the 200 Yard Freestyle clocking in at 1:58.75.
Ling took first place in her first individual event with a win in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 57.83. Ling came back to win the 100 Yard Fly clocking in at 1:00.73.
Bigus went on to win the 100 Yard Breaststroke clocking in at 1:09.83 and then won the 200 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:29.19. Sophomore Kara Miller-Radest came in first in the 200 Yard Fly with a time of 2:12.52.
Kauahi took first place in the 50 Yard Freestyle coming in at 24.64 and also won the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 53.50. Freshman Sarah Jin took first place in the 200 Yard Backstroke clocking in at 2:10.76.
Sophomore Molly Weinstock capped off the individual events with a first place finish in the 400 Yard IM with a time of 4:51.80.
The Sagehens next hit the water on Saturday, February 6th as Pomona-Pitzer host SCIAC rival Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 11 a.m. at Haldeman Pool.
