Women's Swim & Dive: Sagehens Challenged At Fresno Meet

FRESNO, CA. -  The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Swim & Dive Team took some top finishes at the dual meet against Fresno Pacific University and Fresno State University on Saturday afternoon. However, they fell to the Sunbirds in the dual meet 165.00 to 134.00 as well as the Bulldogs 207.00-87.00.

The Sagehens kicked off the meet with a fourth place finish in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, as the A Team featuring Sarah Jin, Alex Gill, Allison Liu, and Maddie Kauahi combined for a time of 1:50.10. Jin later took a close third place finish in the 100 Backstroke at 59.27, 0.74 seconds behind first place. Gill took third in the 100 Breaststroke at 1:05.82. Kauahi later delivered a close finish in the 50 Freestyle, taking second at 24.39, just 0.29 seconds behind the winner. Alex Werner finished in third in the 200 Breaststroke at 2:25.43.

Over in the boards, Emma van der Veen took third in the 1-meter dive at 184.05. She then finished second in the 3-meter at 199.55.

In the final event of the day, the 400 Freestyle Relay, the Sagehens' A team took second as Hannah Zurmuhl, Liu, Kate Denend, and Kauahi combined for a time of 3:37.90, just over a second behind the winning team from Fresno Pacific.

Up Next: The Sagehens will compete again on Saturday, November 10 as they head to Whittier College for a dual meet against the host school and Occidental College.
