COMMERCE, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Swim & Dive Team ended day two of the SCIAC Championship on a high note, placing first in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with the sixth-fastest time in the nation. The performance kept the Sagehens in second place in the standings with 379 meet points, just 28 points behind Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the standings.
Hannah Zurmuhl, Allison Liu, Kate Denend, and Maddie Kauahi combined for a 1:34.12 time in the 200 Freestyle Relay to take first in the A Final. In the B Final, Angela Ling, Sarah Jin, Sabrina Kwan, and Denise Dao combined for second with a time of 1:36.92.
Over at the 200 Individual Medley, Jin placed second in the A Final at 2:07.78 while her classmate Mackenzie Cummings placed third at 2:08.10. Lavinya Yap took ninth at 2:11.77. In the B Final, Erin Bigus placed fourth at 2:11.36.
Zurmuhl placed second in the A Final of the 50 Freestyle with a time of 23.64, improving her NCAA B Cut time. Kauahi placed third at 23.72, making the B Cut.
Up Next: The Sagehens will compete in the third day of the SCIAC Championship tomorrow with the preliminaries starting at 9:00 a.m. and the finals at 5:00 p.m. The following events that will be held that day include the 400-yard IM, the 100-yard butterfly, the 200-yard freestyle, the 100-yard breaststroke, and the 100-yard backstroke.
