CLAREMONT, Calif. -- The No.1 ranked Pomona-Pitzer women's tennis team defeated No. 18 Mary Washington 9-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex.
The Sagehens started off the doubles competition with three wins as Emily Chen and Maryann Zhao won the No. 1 doubles 8-1. The Sagehens won the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles by the score of 8-1 as well as the team of Lea Lynn Yen and Caroline Casper won at the second doubles and Arianna Chen and Joy Kim won the number three spot.
Pomona-Pitzer won all six singles matches as well with Kim winning the No. 1 spot 6-2, 6-2 and Casper winning her singles match in the No. 2 spot 6-0, 6-1.
Zhao took a win in the No. 3 singles spot as she swept her opponent 6-0, 6-0 and Shivani Doraiswami won her singles match in the No. 4 spot with a 6-2, 6-2 win.
Mae Cuyiuto won her match in the No. 5 singles match as she defeated her opponent 7-6 (4), 6-2 and Chen wrapped up the day with a win in the No. 6 singles spot with a 7-5, 6-1 win.
The Sagehens next hit the court as they host Carnegie Mellon on Thursday, March 10th at 4:00 p.m.
