Women's Tennis: No. 6 Sagehens Move to 2-0 in SCIAC Play

CLAREMONT, CA – The No. 6 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team stayed perfect in SCIAC play, beating the Chapman Panthers in dominating fashion 9-0.

Season Impact: The Sagehens move to 2-0 in SCIAC play and 2-1 overall.

Doubles

Emily Chen and Maryann Zhao started the Sagehens off with a win in the No. 1 doubles spot beating Madeline Saunders and Jaye Orikasa 8-1. 

In the No. 2 spot, Caroline Casper and Arianna Chen swept their opponents for an 8-0 win. Yurie Heard and Mae Coyiuto kept Pomona-Pitzer perfect in doubles with a 8-0 win in the No. 3 position.

Singles

Both Mallory Roth and Joy Kim recorded 6-0, 6-0 wins. Kim was in the No. 3 spot and Roth played in the No. 6 position. 

In the No. 1 singles match, Coyiuto bested Occidental's Madeline Saunders to record a 6-2, 6-2 win.

Arianna Chen beat Nicole Fouts in the No. 2 spot 6-0, 6-2, and Rebecca Salaway won her match in the No. 3 spot 6-0, 6-1. Maddie Gordon beat Danielle Simmons in the No. 5 singles match 6-1, 6-0.

Next Match: The Sagehens travel to Redlands to face the Bulldogs in their first SCIAC road match Friday, February 17.
