Women's Tennis: No. 4 Pomona-Pitzer Sweeps Poets At Ease

CLAREMONT, CA. – The No. 4 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis Team cruised to a remarkable 9-0 victory over the Whittier College Poets on Friday evening, out-scoring them in set points 96-15. The Sagehens improved to a 10-3 record overall and 3-0 in the SCIAC after today's victory.

Jacinta Chen and Melisha Dogra took care of their no. 3 doubles match, winning against Maddi Schmidt and Stacey Bendanillo 8-1. Grace Hruska and Arianna Chen followed with an 8-3 victory over Avery Turner and Kallysta Lopez in no. 2 doubles. The Sagehens finished the doubles sweep after Caroline Casper and Maria Lyven defeated Kindall Yeung and Amanda Rodriguez 8-3 in no. 1.

Over in the singles round, Lucy Jiang shut out Avery Turner in no. 3 singles with a pair of 6-0 sets. Jacinta Chen clinched the match with a pair of 6-0 sweeps over Maddi Schmidt in no. 5 singles and Dogra mimicked her teammate with a pair of 6-0 shutouts over Kiara Embrey in no. 6 singles. Lyven won her no. 2 matchup with Amanda Rodriguez 6-0 and 6-1 and Caroline Casper defeated Kindall Yeung 6-3 and 6-2 in no. 1 singles. Rebecca Salaway finished the sweep with a pair of 6-1 sets over Kallysta Lopez in no. 4 singles.
