Volleyball: Covode, Sagehens Roll Past Caltech

PASADENA, Calif. – Christine Covode put down a career-high eight kills, Julia Zwaal added 14 of her own and the Pomona-Pitzer Volleyball team rolled on their way to a three-set victory over the Caltech Beavers Friday night. 

Season Impact: The Sagehens improve to 9-9 overall and 5-5 in SCIAC play.

The Beavers fall to 2-14 overall and 0-10 in the SCIAC.

Set Scores: 25-18, 25-11, 25-14

Covode had four of her kills in the final set of the match where the Sagehens hit a solid .478. Pomona-Pitzer was on point all night on the attack, finishing the match with a .364 hitting percentage. Covode also had a big night defensively, putting togeher  eight digs. 

Zwaal added another impressive performance to her resume, racking up double digit kills for the 13th time this season. She also had 10 digs. 

Jessica Finn had a big day passing the ball around, finishing with 31 assists. Sophie Janssen continued to show value defensively and on the attack, leading the Sagehens with 12 digs and adding three assists.

Next Match: The Sagehens face the Whittier College Poets tomorrow at 2 p.m. at home in Voelkel Gymnasium.
