Volleyball: Sagehens Host Dig Pink Game for Breast Cancer Awareness

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer Volleyball team will host their Dig Pink Game in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Friday during their 7 p.m. non-conference match against Oberlin College.

The team will be wearing pink ribbons during the game to show support and raise awareness for the countless lives breast cancer has affected.

They will also be hosting poster making on Thursday night in the Poster Lab (behind Dom's Lounge) from 8 p.m.-10 p.m. The poster making is open to all Pomona and Pitzer students, staff, and faculty who want to honor loved ones who have been affected by breast cancer. The posters will be displayed during the game.

Match-Up

The Sagehens are entering the match on a three game win-streak after defeating Whittier College, Caltech, and Redlands. Pomona-Pitzer has lost just one set during the stretch. The Sagehens are 11-9 overall and 7-5 in the SCIAC, currently sitting in fourth place.

Julia Zwaal leads the Sagehens and ranks third in the conference with 237 kills. Senior Sarah Gamble leads the team with 54 total blocks. 

The Oberlin College Yeowomen come into the match with a 7-12 record. They dropped their match last night to the Occidental College Tigers 3-1 (25-17, 25-17, 21-25, 32-30).
