Volleyball: Sagehens Fall to No. 22 Leopards

LA VERNE, Calif. – Vicky-Marie Addo-Ashong put down nine kills, but the Pomona-Pitzer Women's Volleyball team couldn't stop the No. 22 La Verne Leopard's hot hitting, falling in three sets Friday night.

Season Impact: The Sagehens drop to 13-11 overall and 8-7 in conference play with one SCIAC game remaining. Pomona-Pitzer clinched a spot in the four-team SCIAC Postseason Tournament Tuesday night in a 3-0 win over Occidental.

La Verne improves to 21-5 overall and 12-3 in SCIAC play.

Set Scores: 25-17, 25-19, 25-17

Addo-Ashong hit an outstanding .474 percent. The nine kills matches the freshman's career-high.

Isabel Kelly, Stephanie Sun, and Julia Zwaal, each turned in seven kills. Sun added seven digs.

Jessica Finn finshed the game with 29 assists, seven digs, and a block. Sarah Gamble had two blocks.

Sophie Janssen led the Sagehens with nine digs, freshman Sofia Husein finished with five digs of her own. 

The Leopards hit .404 in the match.

Next Match: The Sagehens close out the regular season against No. 2 Cal Lutheran and celebrate Senior Day tomorrow at 4 p.m at Voelkel Gymnasium.
