LOS ANGELES, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Volleyball team fell to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent Redlands 3-1 on Friday night at Currier Gymnasium.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 4-11 overall and 1-2 in conference play while Redlands improves to 3-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play this season.
The Sagehens fell in four sets by the scores of 25-20, 18-25, 21-25 and 14-25.
The Bulldogs and Sagehens came out and battled in a very close first set. After Redlands came back to tie the game at 20-20 the Sagehens rattled off five-straight points to close out the game and go up 1-0.
Much like game one, the second game started out with both teams trading points with the Bulldogs up 13-11. Redlands then went on a 7-4 run to take a 20-15 lead and went on to hold off the Sagehens to tie the game at 1-1.
The Sagehens fell behind to start set three as they trailed 10-4 early on. Pomona-Pitzer climbed back into the game to cut the deficit down to 12-10 but Redlands widened the gap to 22-15. The Sagehens battled back to cut the score to 24-21 but Redlands held on to take a 2-1 lead.
The fourth set belonged to the Bulldogs as they jumped ahead early and stayed on top of Pomona-Pitzer. Redlands extended the lead to 20-10 and the lead was too much to overcome for the Sagehens as they fell to the Bulldogs for their second SCIAC loss of the season.
