CLAREMONT, CA. – The House of Ruth event originally scheduled for the Pomona-Pitzer Football game vs Occidental College will keep the same date (this Saturday, October 21st) but the event will be switched to the volleyball match against SCIAC rival CMS at 4:00 p.m. at Voelkel Gymnasium. This event will also be the annual Breast Cancer Awareness game for the volleyball team.
Courtesy of Sagehen Athletics and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), the Athletic Department will be having a special House of Ruth giveaway with a free rally towel for students with a valid Pomona or Pitzer Student ID while supplies last. SAAC will also have a table set up outside of Voelkel Gymnasium to hand out purple ribbons for the House of Ruth fundraiser. The Sagehen volleyball team will have Voelekl Gymnasium decorated in purple and pink streamers in their support for Breast Cancer Awareness and House of Ruth.
House of Ruth is a local emergency shelter that provides transitional living for victims of domestic violence and their children. The organization also provides career and education counseling and free legal advocacy.
Match vs CMS
The Pomona-Pitzer Volleyball team takes on CMS on Saturday afternoon at Voelkel Gymnasium after the Sagehens fell 3-1 to the Athenas in their first meeting at Roberts Pavilion this season.
The Sagehens (7-17, 4-8) are coming off of a 3-0 win over Redlands in their last time out and travel to Caltech on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. before their match against CMS.
CMS comes into the game as the No. 8 ranked team in Division III this season with an 18-5 overall record and 10-1 in conference play.
The Athenas are led by Margaux Arntson who leads the team with 221 kills. Mikena Werner leads the team in digs with 388 and Clara Madsen leads the team with 471 assists.
Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
