Pomona-Pitzer qualified for the NCAA Tournament with a 12-11 triple-overtime win over Redlands in the SCIAC Championship match on a goal from freshman Mahalia Prater-Fahey with 50 seconds left in the third extra session. Prater-Fahey is a San Diego native (who starred at Patrick Henry High School), and her goal allowed her to return home for the NCAA Championships.
The Sagehens also qualified for the NCAA Tournament with the SCIAC's automatic bid in 2007, 2008 and 2010, earning seventh-place finishes in 2007 and 2008 and an eighth-place finish in 2010. Seniors Annie Oxborough-Yankus (Wallingford, Conn.) and Perri Hopkins (Agoura, Calif.) and junior goalie Sarah Tuggy (Los Angeles, Calif.) are the lone holdovers from the last team to qualify in 2010.
