CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team fell to SCIAC opponent Caltech 4-3 on Friday afternoon at North Field.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens drop to 10-15 overall and 2-8 in conference play while Caltech improves to 6-18 overall and earn their first win in the SCIAC this season.
The Sagehens were led by senior Tanner Nishioka who went 2-4 with three RBI and a run scored with a three run home run.
The Beavers were led by Alex Corado who went 2-4 with a RBI and produced the winning it for the Beavers.
Caltech jumped out to a lead early on as they struck in the top of the first as McCarren singled in the infield to bring home Jacobs and Perry followed that up with a groundball that scored Moffatt to give the Beavers a 2-0 lead.
The Sagehens scored their only runs of the game off of the bat of Nishioka as the senior blasted a three run homer in the top of the fifth to give the Sagehens a 3-2 lead.
The Beavers went on to score two runs in the bottom of the ninth as Kirk doubled to left center to tie the game at 3-3 and Corado singled home Kirk right after to give Caltech the walk-off win and their first SCIAC win of the season.
