ORANGE, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Baseball team fell 8-0 in the series opener to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent Chapman on Friday afternoon at Hart Park.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 5-3 overall and open up SCIAC play with a loss.
The Sagehens were led by Nolan McCafferty who notched another multi-hit game with a 2-4 performance.
Pomona-Pitzer never quite got their bats going against the Panthers as Chapman held the Sagehens to just four hits and no runs in today's game.
Chapman struck first and plated four runners in the first inning after an RBI triple scored the first runner of the game followed by an RBI single and an RBI double to cap off a four-run inning for Chapman to take a 4-0 lead.
Chapman went on to plate two runners in the fourth and back to back one run innings followed as they held an 8-0 lead after six innings of play.
Pomona-Pitzer never could get their offense going against the Panthers as they dropped game one of the three-game series.
