Chapman Takes Homecoming Win Over Sagehens

Orange, Calif. - Jeremiah McKibbins, Terrell Dolberry and Blayr Jimmerson each scored two touchdowns as the Chapman Football team captured a 58-0 win over Pomona-Pitzer on its Homecoming Weekend Saturday evening.

With the win, Chapman improves to 3-1 overall on the season and 2-0 in the SCIAC, while Pomona-Pitzer falls to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in league play.

Junior wide receiver Brett Harper (pictured) accounted for the two longest plays from scrimmage for the Sagehens, a 37-yard rush on their opening drive and a 37-yard pass reception. The run on the opening drive helped move Pomona-Pitzer into Chapman territory, before the drive stalled and Kevin Masini pinned the Panthers back on the one-yard line with a punt.

However, Chapman went 99 yards for the opening score, a seven-yard run from quarterback Michael Lahey, who also threw for two touchdowns (both to Jimmerson). Jimmerson caught a short two-yard touchdown pass with 1:31 left in the first quarter to make the score 13-0, and McKibbins had two one-yard scoring runs in the second quarter to stretch the lead to 27-0.

On their final drive of the first half, the Panthers went for it on fourth down inside their own territory, and Dolberry was able to bust through with a 53-yard run down to the one-yard line. After a timeout, he scored on the next play with 20 seconds left in the half to put Chapman ahead 34-0 heading into the break.

Harper finished with 64 yards receiving and 47 yards rushing for the Sagehens on three carries. Junior safety Nelson Cole led the defense with eight tackles.

Pomona-Pitzer is back in action next weekend when it travels to Cal Lutheran for a 1 p.m. contest.
