REDLANDS, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Football team fell to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent Redlands 42-20 on Saturday night at Ted Runner Stadium.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 2-4 overall and now are 1-3 in SCIAC play this season.
The Sagehens were led by quarterback Edward Sias who threw for 156 yards with one touchdown while Karter Odermann completed 11-18 with 112 yards through the air as well. David Berkinksy was on the other end of 10 passes as he racked up 98 yards receiving in the loss.
Redlands came out and immediately put together some offense as they went 52 yards in just 1:11 capped off by a 10-yard touchdown to take an early 7-0 lead.
The Sagehen offense got off to a slow start against the Bulldogs as they failed to put up any offensive points on the board in the first half. The defense helped keep Pomona-Pitzer in the game as Harris picked off the Redlands quarterback and returned it 38 yards to give the Sagehens their first score of the night and cut the lead down to 14-7.
The Bulldogs ended the half with scores on three-straight possession in the second quarter to hold a 35-7 lead heading into halftime.
Pomona-Pitzer came out with the first score of the second half as they capped off an 11 play 75-yard drive with a six-yard pass from Sias to Win Hunter to cut the deficit to 35-13 but the Bulldogs responded with seven points on the next possession to push their lead to 42-13.
Odermann then found the endzone for the Sagehens with 8:32 left to go in the fourth quarter after a three-yard run to trim the deficit to 42-20 but the first half offense from the Bulldogs was able to hold off the Sagehens' comeback attempt.
