After back-to-back threes gave Redlands a 26-21 lead, freshman guard Michael Cohen (Tarzana, Calif.) hit one foul shot and then followed with a three to make the score 26-24. After Redlands missed two threes on its final possession of the first half, the Sagehens ran the clock down and Klukas buried a three from the left corner as the clock expired.

The Sagehens then started the second half with a 6-0 run, as it did not allow a point for the first 5:42 of the second stanza, extending its scoreless streak to 12:15 before it was finally broken by a Stephen Call jumper in the paint to cut the lead to 34-28.

Klukas hit a three-pointer to give Pomona-Pitzer a nine-point lead 37-28, but Redlands answered right back with a Brian Kuklok three and pulled within 37-34 with 12:11 to play on a Jack Colston three-pointer. However, freshman guard Kyle McAndrews (Seattle, Wash.) and Cohen each had driving lay-ups, and a three-pointer from senior guard Danny Brown (Eugene, Ore.) capped off a 9-2 run that gave the Sagehens their largest lead at 48-38 with 8:15 to play.

Redlands was able to creep as close as five points down the stretch, but Cohen and Klukas were each able to hit two foul shots at the line to push it up to seven both times, making the score 55-48 with 2:03 remaining.  McAndrews then had a key steal to give the Sagehens a stop, and they were able to push the lead back up to 10 points at 58-48 on two Weiss foul shots with 21 seconds left,  before settling for the nine-point win.

Cohen joined Klukas and Weiss in double figures with 10 points, while McAndrews added eight, giving the Sagehens 31 points from its three rotation freshmen (Klukas, Cohen, McAndrews).  Kuklok led Redlands with 12 points, while Pomona-Pitzer's defense held leading scorer Tristan Kirk to only two points on 1-9 shooting. Overall, the Sagehens allowed just 27.3 percent shooting from the Bulldogs, including 20.7 percent (6-29) in the second half.
