Men's Basketball: Pomona-Pitzer Falls To La Verne 80-64

LA VERNE, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer men's basketball team fell to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference La Verne 80-64 on Wednesday night.

Pomona-Pitzer was led by freshman Daniel Rosenbaum who tied his career-high with 29 points. Senior Gibson Farone-Collins had 12 points and 16 rebounds in the loss for the Sagehens.

La Verne was led by Hakim Arnold who tallied 20 points and eight rebounds. Evan Gustafson came off the bench and gave the Leopards 17 points.

The Leopards got the advantage early as they started out the game on a 20-5 run that gave La Verne the upper hand in the first half. La Verne pushed its lead to 26-9 before Pomona-Pitzer called its first timeout with 8:11 left before halftime.

The Sagehens could not find their stroke in the first half as they only shot 28% from the field as the Leopards went into the locker room with a 39-21 lead.

The Sagehens came out in the second half and had more success on the offensive side of the floor shooting 39% from the field.

Pomona-Pitzer outscored La Verne 43-41 in the second half but dug too deep of a hole in the first half as the Sagehens dropped their third-straight SCIAC game of the year.

The Sagehens continue SCIAC play as they host Occidental on Saturday, January 23rd at 2 p.m.
