SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Basketball team fell to Westmont 91-59 on Saturday night.
With the loss, the Sagehens drop to 2-3 overall on the year and Westmont improves to 8-1 this season.
Westmont was led by Gerald Karczewski who tallied a team-high 15 points for the Warriors in the win. Hayden Anderson and Cory Blau were also in double digits with 14 and 13, respectively.
The Warriors came out on fire on offense and immediately jumped out to a big 25-8 lead to open up the first half. The Sagehens' late start made it tough for them to chip away at the Warriors' lead as they trailed 54-27 heading into halftime.
Westmont shot 62.1% from the field in the first half opposed to the Sagehens who only shot 26.9%. The Warriors also won the turnover battle in the first half as they forced Pomona-Pitzer to turn the ball over eight times.
Much like the first half, Westmont came out and opened up the half hot on offense. The Warriors outscored the Sagehens 18-10 in the first 10 minutes of the half and held a 72-40 lead.
The Sagehen defense had trouble slowing down the scoring of the Warriors offense as Pomona-Pitzer drops its third game of the year.
Up Next: The Sagehens will stay on the road as they travel to Division I opponent UC Irvine on Friday, December 9th at 7:00 p.m.
