LA MIRADA, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Basketball team fell to non-conference opponent Biola College 70-60 on Saturday night at Chase Gym.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 0-3 overall on their road trip to open up their season.
Biola was led by Levi Auble who notched a game-high 29 points while Michael Bagatourian and Trevor Treinen each chipped in with 14.
The Sagehens' offense struggled out of the gate as Biola jumped out to an early lead and was able to keep that lead throughout the entirety of the game.
Both offenses had a tough time getting going in the first half but Biola was able to build an early 10-4 lead and extended that lead to 17-10 half way through the first half.
Biola took their largest lead of the first half at 29-17 with 5:08 left before halftime but the Sagehens got their offense going late and ended the first half on an 11-3 run capped off by a Jack Boyle three-pointer to cut the lead down to 32-28 heading into the break.
Pomona-Pitzer started the second half slowly on offense as they failed to score in the first six minutes of the half as Biola pushed their lead to 44-32 with 14:42 to go.
The Sagehens clawed back into the game and cut the deficit to just six points at 56-50 after a made jump shot by Elan but the Eagles stayed on top down the stretch and fought off the attempted comeback to hold on for the win.
