CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer men's basketball team will venture across Sixth Street as they take on Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the Sixth Street Rivalry on Wednesday, February 7th at 7:00 p.m. at Roberts Pavilion.
The Sagehens currently sit in third place in the SCIAC standings at 8-3 with CMS sitting at the top at 10-1. The Stags won the first meetings of the year between these two teams as they came from behind late and pulled off a 72-67 win at Voelkel Gymnasium.
Pomona-Pitzer will look to duplicate last year's success at Roberts Pavilion where they took the regular season win in the first ever Sixth Street Rivalry at Roberts Pavilion by the score of 80-61. Junior Corbin Koch left his mark on the Stags last season as he tallied 24 points in the first half alone at CMS and eventually led the Sagehens to a big 80-61 win.
This year will prove to be another classic rivalry game as the Stags have senior Michael Scarlett playing in his last regular season game against the Sagehens in his career. Scarlett leads the Stags with 17.7 points per game and has produced several big moments in his career during this historic rivalry. Jack Ely leads the Stags with 2.8 assists per game this season and Kendrick Morris leads CMS down low with 7.8 rebounds per contest.
The Sagehens will look to spoil the Stags home game this season behind the big three of Daniel Rosenbaum, Micah Elan and Corbin Koch. Rosenbaum leads the Sagehens this season with 15.4 points per game with Elan right behind him at 15.1 and Koch at 11.1. Rosenbaum also leads the Sagehens with 7.2 rebounds per game and Elan dishes out 3.9 assists per contest.
