VENTURA, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Golf Team saw several outstanding results in their 2019-20 season debut, as the Sagehens finished seventh at the California State Intercollegiate in Olivas Links. The Sagehens finished the tournament with 885 strokes and 21-over par total while the winner Cal Lutheran University finished at 857 with seven-under.
Freshman Seth Pope was spectacular in his collegiate debut, finishing sixth overall with a final score of 214 (-2). After shooting 73 (on a 72-par course) in the first day, Pope shot up to first place in the leaderboard in round two after shooting 67. He closed out with a 74 in the final round, finishing the tournament with 11 total birdies and 35 pars.
Jack Carrigan and David Song both tied for 29th place at 224, shooting eight-over. Song had an impressive first round, shooting one-under (71) with an eagle in the fourth hole (Par 5). He shot 75 (+3) in the second round and 78 (+6) in the final. Carrigan shot a 74 in the first round, 73 in the second, and 77 in the final. He scored 11 birdies throughout the tournament.
Owen Rosebeck finished tied for 37th with a score of 228 (+12), shooting 78 in the first round and scoring 75 in both the second and final round. Sam Sawyers ended tied for 48th with a score of 234, shooting 18-over. He went 79 in the first round, 82 in the second, 73 in the third.
Up Next: The Sagehens will compete again this Saturday and Sunday on September 21-22 at the Redlands Bulldog Fall Invitational hosted at the S Club in Rancho Miraga, California.
