RANCHO MIRAGE, CA. - It was a quick turnaround for the Pomona-Pitzer Men's Golf Team. Days after completing 54 holes at the CA State Intercollegiate in Ventura, CA, they did so again this past weekend at the Bulldogs Invitational hosted at the S Club in Rancho Mirage, CA. The Sagehens finished in 6th place overall, shooting 300 or better all three rounds, as the tournament was won by fellow SCIAC competitors Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
The Sagehens were led by senior Sam Sawyers. Sawyers improved every day, firing rounds of 76,73,70 (+3) to secure a top-15 finish. His two-under par bogey-free final round marks his best ever collegiate outing. Following Sawyers was fellow Senior Owen Rosebeck. Rosebeck started his tournament strong with a two-under par 70 and finished in solo 18th after a three round total of +5. Right behind Rosebeck was Jack Carrigan who continues to show his steady play with rounds of 74,77,74 (+9), good enough for a T-22 finish. David Song also built off of his performance from last week shooting 77,72,77 (+10) which landed him solo 24th place. Rounding out the Sagehens was First-Year Seth Pope who overcame a tough start to secure a T-35 finish with rounds of 81,78,79 (+22). The Men's team has a lot to look forward to this upcoming season.
Up Next: The Sagehens will be packing their bags and competing in Gearhart, Oregon at the George Fox Invitational from Saturday, October 5th to Sunday, October 6th.
