THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Soccer team lost a hard fought battle to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) opponent Cal Lutheran by the score of 1-0 on Saturday night at Rolland Stadium.
Pomona-Pitzer drops to 8-6-2 overall and 7-5-2 in conference play on the year while Cal Lutheran improves to 8-7-1 and 7-6-1 in the SCIAC.
The Sagehens are coming off of a 2-1 win over No. 13 Redlands at home last Wednesday and have not lost a match in their last five contests until tonight.
Pomona-Pitzer played a very well defended game as they only allowed four shots on goal for the Kingsmen's offense.
The lone goal of the game for Cal Lutheran came as Brandon Kearney took a pass from Gabe Fernando in the middle of the box and his shot deflected off Pomona-Pitzer goal keeper Ben Mitchell to find the back of the net to give Cal Lutheran a 1-0 lead in the 51st minute.
The Sagehens looked to find an equalizer late in the game but all five shots on goal ended up as saves for the Cal Lutheran goal keeper.
